What Our Students Say
Mabel Mediale

MPharm Master of Pharmacy student from Ghana.
What attracted you to your course at 91ΑΤΖζ?
I chose the UK as a study destination because it houses some of the best universities in the world, with a good legacy which is recognized worldwide.
I was attracted to study my course at 91ΑΤΖζ as it was one of the best universities in Scotland to study Pharmacy. Also, 91ΑΤΖζ was also recognized for its rankings in graduate employability, quality of teaching, affordable tuition fees and a conducive environment for studying. My final deciding factor was the fact that it is in the city of Aberdeen which has been ranked one of the UKβs most affordable cities.
I have also always been interested and attracted to different cultures, which study at 91ΑΤΖζ exposes me to through the diverse student population.
Before coming to 91ΑΤΖζ, what was your expectation of it - and how has the reality been?
Before coming to 91ΑΤΖζ I recognized that the learning experiences would be different from what I was used to. However, with the student support services provided by the university I have settled in quite well, as well as adopted new learning techniques and adjusted to the UK university teaching style.
What's the best thing about being an 91ΑΤΖζ student?
91ΑΤΖζ has a very large diverse community of students, which made me feel really welcomed and presented an opportunity to not only get to know people from other cultural backgrounds, but also make lifelong friends.
Describe your favourite memory of 91ΑΤΖζ so far?
I think my favourite memory by far was attending the βInterprofessional Learningβ session in the third year of my course, as part of the Professional Practice module on my course. I was glad we were given the opportunity as students to get to meet other healthcare students from different schools, as we were able to broadly appreciate how irrespective of our different professions in healthcare, how our roles are connected to provide person-centred care to patients.
Tell us about your most challenging/rewarding project/assignment/module. What did you like/ dislike about it and how has it helped you?
I think one of my challenging courses was pharmaceutical chemistry during my first semester and the challenging assignment of writing a lab report. However, quickly admitting I needed support, and receiving support, helped me learn from my mistakes. This resulted in better academic performance in my second semester courses and assignments.
What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying? Why is that important to you?
I love going to the beach for walks but not during the winter though. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends.
What would you say to someone considering studying at 91ΑΤΖζ? Any advice you would share?
It is a very good university, and I would definitely recommend 91ΑΤΖζ. It is really home to a diverse community of students and I would encourage you to choose 91ΑΤΖζ as your study destination.
What do you enjoy most about living in Aberdeen (city, food, people, entertainment, travel, etc.)?
I enjoy the beach, the cityβs architecture, and getting to try out different foods at different restaurants. The people are warm and friendly, and it is a nice city to live and study in.
